Now available in paperback or e-reader: The Last Road Trip.
Readers are raving about this YA contemporary with crossover adult appeal.
“yall. this book has no business being this good. … I’ve never read any of megan’s work before and was BLOWN AWAY. She genuinely gets the teen experience right sometimes YA can be cringeworthy bc the adult authors don’t know what they’re doing, but she does. She did her research and nailed it.”
“I loved the complex weaving together of themes that capture both young people and adults in their quest for understanding other people and other peoples’ decisions. Sometimes I would stop and take in a phrase, reflecting on its depth. I also found the story line captivating. I started this on vacation, and found myself making excuses to read to the end of this of this adventurous road trip.”
“This story will take you places, and not just geographically. It’s hilarious and irreverent and sweet and hopeful in the face of the scary sides of human nature and almost certain doom, and that feels very timely.”
Description:
“Dear Em,
The world is ending in eight short weeks, and I can’t decide which I’m more afraid of—dying when the comet hits, or never getting to apologize for ruining your life.”
All 16-year-old Lou wants is to fit in, get her drivers’ license, maybe kiss someone. Be normal. These goals vanish when a huge comet appears, hurtling towards Earth—it’s a planet killer. Now all she wants is to find and reconcile with her missing older brother, Emmett, who her parents threw out years ago for being gay.
With only eight weeks left, Lou discovers a stack of hidden letters from Emmett, who now lives in Oregon. But her investigation is side-tracked when an intergalactic imp named Bazooka arrives on her doorstep. Bazooka accidentally set the comet on its path and is trapped on Earth until it hits. He might be able to save at least some people, but he isn’t sure: are humans worth saving? Running away with Lou might help him decide.
With time ticking down, Lou and Bazooka steal a scooter and desperately race from Iowa to the West Coast to find Emmett, decide the fate of humanity, and resolve their mutual guilty secrets before the world explodes.

About Me
I’m Megan, and my greatest love in life is good storytelling. Books, movies, tv shows — you name it, if it has compelling story, I’m there for it. Writing is the thing that makes me most happy in the world, and I’m glad to be able to share it with you!
I’m currently working on the publication of my third, while revising the one before it and working on ideas for my next manuscript. I write mostly magical realism and speculative fiction, both adult and young adult, with a humorous and/or romantic twist in most cases. I’m also a voracious reader and when I’m not writing seriously I write and publish shorter works of fiction online.
Come take a look at my current and recent projects.
